Home Affairs Advisor to the interim government, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury said, RAB before August 5 is no more. There have been many changes in RAB’s activities. They are now gaining people’s appreciation by controlling the law and order situation, recovering weapons and drugs, and bringing criminals under the law. RAB now deserves praise.
He told reporters during a quick visit to the RAB headquarters in Kurmitola in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
The Home Affairs Advisor said, ‘The activities of RAB before August 5 are no more. Now everyone is working well. RAB’s performance is much better now. In terms of recovering drugs and weapons, as well as RAB’s operations against criminals now deserve praise. For that, I thank everyone in RAB.’
The Home Affairs Advisor also said, ‘National elections are coming up. Elections are also being held in various universities. “Directions have been given to senior RAB officers and commanders of various battalions to maintain normal law and order during these elections.”
In response to a question about whether there is a security threat over the upcoming Durga Puja, Jahangir Alam said, “There are over 33,000 puja mandap. One or two minor incidents may occur. I am hopeful that no major incident will occur.”
